(More customer reviews)This is the most prevalent of the humane mouse traps out there, and one of the cheapest. Unfortunately, it is very ineffective. Laugh if you like, but ever since reading Robert Burns' poem about the wee brown mouse, I cringe a bit when looking at the Glue or snappin' traps that take them out.

Therefore, we gave this item a shot. We've tried catching the critters on numerous occasions and in different settings, only to find that it takes very little to slam the trap door shut...so little, in fact, that the mice have scrammed out of sight before it closes every time.

This is the first live trap I have used, so I cannot compare it with any others. So, if you're a first timer in trying to catch a mouse without executing it, the only advice I can give is "Do not start here!" I've been told some of the mid-range priced live traps are effective, so I'm going shopping!
